Description
Johnson & Associates Law Offices, PC seeks an associate attorney who has an interest in criminal defense to work as appointed counsel for indigent clients on felony criminal cases, as part of a 50% caseload contract. The candidate will work with other attorneys, support staff and under the supervision of an experienced trial attorney. Our office is in Vancouver, WA, however client representation for this position will be focused on the courts of Klickitat County Washington with the Superior Court located in Goldendale, WA. Remote appearances for most hearings are available and there are many opportunities to work from home and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Opportunities also exist to expand your caseload and related compensation in criminal defense as well as other areas of law including parent representation in dependency cases, plaintiff's personal injury and corporate collection work.
Annual salary range, depending on experience, is $50,000 - $60,000 as a base salary related to work only on the criminal defense contract, with a billed and collected split for billed work, in which there should be ample time and ability to engage . The position is also eligible for discretionary merit bonuses. Benefits include health insurance reimbursement, bar dues, CLEs, and paid vacation and sick leave. Attorneys are generally permitted to work remotely but some office hours are required each week.

Requirements
The ideal candidate would have 1-2 years of criminal trial experience with demonstrated writing and verbal communication skills, be a member in good standing with Washington State Bar Association and have a desire to work in a collegial environment in an expanding law practice. Personal transportation and a valid Washington state driver’s license required.
