Description
The bankruptcy paralegal supports attorneys by managing cases for debtors or creditors, primarily handling petition preparation, filing via CM/ECF, and communicating with courts and trustees. Key duties include reviewing financial records, drafting schedules (Ch. 7, 11, 13), research, first day motion drafting, and managing deadlines. The candidate must possess strong knowledge of federal bankruptcy laws and, often, 3+ years of experience.
Requirements
Generally 2-5 years of experience in bankruptcy law, specifically with Chapter 7, 11, and 13 proceedings. Proficiency in bankruptcy software (e.g., Best Case) and court filing systems (CM/ECF). Strong understanding of federal bankruptcy rules and local rules and procedures. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work under strict deadlines.
