Job Title: Curbside Development Coordinator
Reports to Curbside Chief Operating Officer
Full-time, Exempt
Overview
The Homeless Alliance is seeking to build the capacity of its social enterprises by hiring a development coordinator who will provide support for fundraising aspects of Curbside Enterprises. The nonprofit includes social services (case management and housing support), four businesses providing supportive employment (Curbside Chronicle, Curbside Flowers, Curbside Apparel, and Sasquatch Shaved Ice), and administrative support.
The development coordinator should have experience in a fund development role at a nonprofit organization; have a basic understanding of the principles, practices, and ethics of fundraising; exhibit exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build relationships, engage, and inspire donors; have an understanding of how to handle sensitive and confidential situations; exhibit exceptional writing skills as applied to grants, solicitations, and acknowledgements; and have experience using software for fundraising purposes such as a donor database, financial reporting, donor moves management, online giving, prospect research, and digital communications.
Mission
The mission of Curbside Enterprises is to provide income and employment opportunities to people struggling with homelessness and poverty. Curbside provides dignified income to people who often feel like they have no other options, equips people to end their homelessness through our employment and housing programs, puts a face to the issue of homelessness, and empowers the community to play a role in solving the problem.
Job Summary:
The development coordinator assists in executing the organization's fundraising plan to support the operation of the organization. This includes maintaining the donor database, providing corporate and foundation support, researching grants and assisting with the grant process, supporting special events, cultivating individual donors, recording and acknowledging gifts, and coordinating in-kind contributions and donation drives. The candidate must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.
The development coordinator must maintain professional integrity, exemplifying the values and mission of Curbside. All employees and volunteers are expected to be sensitive to our clients’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics, reflect Curbside Enterprises’ core values, and perform at Curbside’s standards of excellence at all times.
Responsibilities:
Donor & Community Engagement
- Assist with donor relations, including solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship.
- Help identify and cultivate new funding opportunities.
- Represent Curbside through facility tours, presentations, and public engagements.
- Collaborate on communication strategies to enhance public awareness and ensure fundraising messaging and impact stories align with organizational values.
- Coordinate in-kind contributions and donation drives.
Grant & Event Management
- Research grant opportunities and maintain a grants calendar.
- Assist with grant writing and reporting.
- Provide support for the planning and execution of special fundraising events.
- Support capital campaigns and other major fundraising initiatives as needed.
Data & Compliance Management
- Maintain and analyze a donor database while ensuring confidentiality.
- Help analyze fundraising performance metrics to assess effectiveness and guide strategic decision-making.
- Provide support with reconciling charitable contributions and restricted assets with the finance team.
- Ensure fundraising activities align with ethical principles and compliance standards.
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit leadership, marketing, communications, business, or related field required
- Three years of fundraising experience at a nonprofit required
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills required
- Ability to travel locally to meet with donors and attend events as needed
- Proven ability to work in software used for fundraising purposes such as donor database, financial reporting, donor moves management, online giving, prospect research, and digital communications
- Computer literate; experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), internet required

- Possess ability to understand various Curbside Enterprise operations and procedures.
- Ability to handle and prioritize a variety of work assignments.
- Ability to work and communicate in a professional manner, demonstrating dignity and respect for our staff, clients, volunteers, donors, vendors, and community leaders.
- Process, protect and exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials.
- Display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
- Must be able to work some evening and weekends as required by the job.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must have a desire to grow with the agency.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time in an office environment and must be able to lift/move weight up to 25 lbs. Employee is also required to accept incoming calls and must be able to hear and speak. Must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, memos, letters, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. Must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer.
