- Director of Education, Field Service Trainer
Description
The Director of Education is a key position in a small and growing trade association. This position is very “hands-on” and detail-oriented in providing an outstanding educational experience for our members and the industry-at-large. The Director will develop and execute strategies to grow and standardize EGSA
training, a top association priority, by working with leadership and key members, as well as enhancing current educational programs, including our popular schools and certification programs. The person will be a self-starter, agile and nimble, can work on numerous projects simultaneously, and has a
passion for creating new work products while maintaining day-to-day processes. The Director is an independent thinker with outstanding communication, project management, and judgment skills in navigating multiple priorities with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Educational Content and Instructor Training
- Work closely with the Education Committee and staff to create new classroom and lab training, including certification preparation, to complement and enhance EGSA’s current programs.
- Lead and teach EGSA’s Load Bank Training and Cer0fica0on Program; update the curriculum as needed.
- Formalize and teach EGSA’s new Generator Maintenance Training Program.
- Support the review and oversight of the on-site schools’ curriculum.
- Partner with Membership Experience in recruiting Member targets that participate in educational offerings. Responsible for educational member communications, including various marketing channels.
- Develop content for EGSA’s Learning Management System (LMS) with both EGSA and Member content; create other online programs to support technician certification needs.
- Support all other existing educational programs, including Power Webinars.
- Staff lead on the Education Committee and other Education groups.
- Other tasks as assigned by EGSA staff leadership.
Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of five years’ experience as an instructional trainer in the on-site power generation industry.
- Five to eight years of educational content experience in the power generation industry.
- Excellent verbal and written, i.e., “soft” communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Work accurately with laser-focused attention to detail.
- Solid computer skills, extensive knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of and proficiency with social media platforms.
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, assertive, and self-motivated.
- Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
- Professional and friendly demeanor, especially in member communications.
- Ability to take ownership of a process and to use problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
- Demonstrate the highest level of personal and ethical standards.
