Position Overview:
The Marketing Assistant will support the marketing and communications team across multiple functions. This individual will manage and support a wide variety of marketing and communications administrative tasks, including data management, graphic design support, and event support. They will also support marketing and business development efforts by assisting with pursuits, working in collaboration with the marketing team. This individual will contribute to internal and external communications, helping ensure unified, consistent, and strategic messaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support
- Manages and supports multiple BD-related tasks. This may include managing UMC's sponsorship benefits, as well as supporting client/BD events and appreciation efforts.
- Manages and updates UMC project and people information.
- Coordinates and manages swag efforts for custom swag orders, as well as the UMC Company Store.
- Provides graphic design assistance for project and department requests.
- Business Development Support
- Supports responses to proposals by developing written content in alignment with strategic messaging. Primarily this includes resumes and project profiles.
- Assists as needed in preparing interview/presentation deliverables.
- Updates and maintains boilerplate, resumes, testimonials, and project files.
- Communications
- Collaborates with technical and marketing staff to research, write and develop authentic and compelling stories about UMC's people, projects, and services, ensuring that information is communicated clearly, accurately, and in a visually appealing manner.
- Creates dynamic content for internal and external communication vehicles, including the website, UConnect, social media, newsletter, and other communications.
- Acts as a UConnect super-user.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assists with any research needed for pursuits, including client research.
- Assists with employee engagement events or community/outreach efforts as needed.
- Supports UMC's video and photography projects as needed.
- Supports UMC's branding and visual identity with graphic design projects as needed.
- Responsible for marketing supplies management.
- Collaborates with marketing colleagues to grow and expand UMC/proposal knowledge base.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to write and communicate in a clear and compelling manner, with a strong command of English grammar and editing.
- Comfortable speaking with internal teams and external vendors.
- Time management skills and ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to consistently manage multiple tasks, prioritize those efforts, and be adaptable and able to respond quickly and efficiently as priorities shift.
- Comfortable asking for help.
- Initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness, with the ability to execute effectively with an attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to build relationships with various team members, proficient collaboration and coordination abilities, and efficient time management when faced with multiple deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills with a hands-on and team-oriented attitude.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (communications, English, journalism, marketing, or design); or equivalent experience
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
Required Licensing and Other Certifications:
- Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
