Chelan High School seeks a knowledgeable, collaborative, and student-centered mathematics teacher for a non-continuing position serving the remainder of the 2026–27 school year.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong content knowledge and the ability to teach across the Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II sequence, including an understanding of how concepts and prerequisite skills connect across courses.

Essential Responsibilities:
Mathematics Content and Instruction:

  • Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction using district-adopted curriculum and established course sequences.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, including equations and inequalities; linear, quadratic, and exponential relationships; functions and their representations; geometric reasoning and proof; similarity and congruence; coordinate geometry; and polynomial, rational, radical, and logarithmic relationships.
  • Understand the progression from Algebra I through Geometry and Algebra II, identifying prerequisite gaps and preparing students for success in subsequent courses.
  • Balance conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, mathematical reasoning, and application.
  • Engage students in meaningful problem-solving, multiple solution strategies, and connections among equations, graphs, tables, diagrams, and real-world situations.
  • Use structured student discourse so students explain their thinking, justify conclusions, ask questions, and respond to peers’ reasoning.

Student Growth and Support:

  • Establish a welcoming classroom with high expectations, consistent routines, and a strong sense of belonging.
  • Use formative assessments, student work, and common assessments to identify misconceptions and adjust instruction.
  • Provide timely feedback, targeted re-teaching, and opportunities for students to demonstrate growth.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students needing intervention and students ready for additional challenge.
  • Support multilingual learners through explicit mathematical vocabulary, visual models, language scaffolds, and structured opportunities to speak and write about mathematics.
  • Implement IEP and Section 504 accommodations and collaborate with specialists to ensure access to rigorous instruction.
  • Monitor course performance and respond early when students show signs of difficulty, supporting successful course completion and progress toward graduation.

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with mathematics colleagues and professional learning teams on pacing, instructional practices, common assessments, and student support.
  • Review existing student progress and course plans to provide a smooth transition and continuity of learning.
  • Communicate proactively with families about student progress, strengths, concerns, and next steps.
  • Maintain accurate and timely grades, attendance, and student records.
