Description & Requirements
The Department of Pathology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking an experienced Medical Director for Renal Pathology to join our expanding team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. This leadership role provides an exceptional opportunity to advance renal pathology services across a large, integrated health system. Pathologists with additional areas of subspecialty expertise are also invited to apply.
Our current renal pathology service evaluates approximately 150 native and 600 transplant-related biopsies annually, with substantial growth potential through our Outreach program.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide expert renal pathology services working closely with Nephrology, Pediatric Nephrology, and Abdominal Transplant Surgery
• Participate in clinical, translational, or basic research
• Support allograft procurement biopsy evaluation
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows
• Lead and support laboratory staff and clinical partners

Training and/or Experience Required
Qualifications
• MD or equivalent degree
• Renal pathology subspecialty training
• At least 2 years post-board certification experience (preferred)
• Demonstrated leadership and integrity
