About the Role
Lear & Lear is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney to join our Salt Lake City office. This position is ideal for an individual looking to build a sophisticated career in natural resources law within a premier boutique firm. We are looking for candidates who are either early-career associates or high-achieving law students preparing to enter the profession.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with our senior partners on complex oil and gas matters, with a primary focus on:
- Title Examination: Preparing complex drilling and division order title opinions for fee, federal, and state lands.
- Regulatory Assistance: Representing clients before state regulatory agencies (such as the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining) regarding pooling, spacing, and other operational matters.
Requirements
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who meet one of the following criteria:
- Junior Associate: 1–2 years of experience in oil and gas law, real estate title, or a related energy field.
- Entry-Level (Class of 2026): Current 3L students who will graduate in Spring 2026 and are prepared to sit for the Summer 2026 Bar Exam.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong academic credentials and excellent legal research and writing skills.
- A demonstrated interest in energy law, mineral titles, or natural resources.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
- Admission to the Utah State Bar (or intent to seek admission in 2026).
