- Payroll and Benefits Administrator
Description
The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for accurate, timely payroll processing and administration of benefit programs for our U.S. employees. This role ensures compliance with applicable federal and state tax and labor requirements; supports HR processes such as onboarding and offboarding; and partners with HR, Finance, and external vendors to manage day-to-day operations and continuous improvement. The position serves as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits questions, delivering high-quality customer support while maintaining strict confidentiality and data integrity.
Essential Functions
Process accurate, timely payroll for U.S. employees.
Ensure payroll and benefits practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and company policies.
Maintain payroll and benefits records and documentation; prepare and file tax and deduction reports; and process involuntary deductions (e.g., garnishments).
Perform routine audits for pay records and reconcile all tax and unemployment liability accounts to the general ledger and investigate variances.
Administer the day-to-day and annual activities of the organization’s US benefits programs, including annual enrollment.
Administer leave of absence programs, including state required leaves, sick and safe time, and company leave programs.
Maintain payroll and benefits systems and work closely with internal partners to implement process improvements, test system changes, and lead special projects within the payroll and benefits space.
Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors, prepare and file any required reports.
Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, precision, discretion, and confidentiality.
Analyze and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns.
Partner with internal partners including Finance, Communications, HR Business Partners, etc. to ensure good programming
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
3-5 years of related experience required.
Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with payroll and benefits software, preferably ADP WorkForce Now.
Ability to process and interpret withholding orders/garnishments.
Familiarity with US wage, tax, and benefit laws, multi-state payroll processing experience.
Exceptional customer service skills via phone and email, ability to be a team-player and adapt to change.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Preferred:
3- years of experience with ADP WorkForce Now
