POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Monday - Friday.
Full Time, 40 hours per week.
First Shift, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit.
Location: DOT District 5 Headquarters in New Haven.
This position is eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period, and thereafter, in accordance with the Telework Policy. The Policy can be found here. Employees in their initial working test period must work on site.
THE ROLE
The Transportation Supervising Engineer will be accountable for assisting the Assistant District Engineers in supervising staff engaged in transportation engineering in the office and field.
Key Responsibilities include:
Daily project or program oversight, coordination, and direction to the staff assigned to the section.
Managing program funding.
Program wide engineering and construction scheduling.
Meeting with State, Local, and Federal Officials.
Coordination with Metro-North and AMTRAK.
Coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Highway Administration (FHWA) or other regulatory agencies.
Program design review, Value Engineering analysis, program refinement.
Constructability analysis.
Coordinating design issues on Design Build projects.
Resolving issues during construction.
Conducting performance appraisals.
Preparing consultant agreements.
Negotiating work assignments.
Oversee project engineers who are dedicated full time to this program.
Other duties as assigned.
