South Baton Rouge Animal Hospital, a proud Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking an experienced and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative team. What You’ll Do
As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patient care and daily hospital operations by:
- Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
- Assessing patient status, obtaining histories, and supporting exam room flow
- Monitoring changes in patient condition and communicating updates to the veterinary team
- Performing laboratory tasks and operating in-house diagnostic equipment (hematology, chemistry analyzers, microscopes)
- Accurately charting medical records using appropriate terminology and documentation standards
- Assisting with surgical preparation and procedures in accordance with state regulations
- Administering treatments and supporting outpatient care as directed
- Maintaining clean, organized, and sanitary treatment, exam, and lab areas
- Using safe restraint techniques to ensure patient and team safety
- Supporting and mentoring fellow team members as needed
