Description

The Product Design & Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of electronic motor control products. This role combines analog and digital circuit design, embedded firmware development, PC-based software development, product validation, and technical support. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, sales, operations, customers, and suppliers to develop innovative products that meet market needs while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

1. Safety & Quality

Maintain a safety-first and quality-first approach in all aspects of product design, development, testing, and support.
Ensure products comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
Participate in design reviews, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Product Design & Development

Design new motor control products and enhance existing product platforms.
Develop electronic circuits, PCB layouts, and system architectures for AC, DC and BLDC motor control applications.
Build, troubleshoot, and evaluate prototypes.
Perform laboratory testing, validation, and performance characterization of products.
Create and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, bills of materials, test procedures, and design specifications.
Support transition of products from development into manufacturing.
3. Product Support

Provide technical support for existing products, including troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and application-related issues.
Investigate product failures and customer-reported issues to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Support manufacturing and quality teams with product-related technical issues.
Develop product improvements based on field performance, customer feedback, and reliability data.
Create and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and user support materials.
4. Software & Firmware Development

Develop, maintain, and support PC-based software applications used for configuration, programming, monitoring, and diagnostics of motor control products.
Develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based motor control systems.
Implement control algorithms, communication protocols, and user interface functionality as required.
Conduct thorough verification and validation testing to ensure software and firmware reliability and performance.
Maintain software documentation, version control, and release processes.
5. Product Roadmap & Innovation

Contribute ideas and recommendations for new products, features, and technology improvements.
Evaluate emerging technologies, components, and industry trends relevant to motor controls and industrial automation.
Participate in strategic product planning and roadmap discussions.
Help identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost competitiveness.
6. Sales & Customer Support

Provide technical expertise to support product selection, application development, and troubleshooting.
Assist sales personnel in understanding product capabilities and customer requirements.
Participate in customer discussions, technical presentations, and application reviews as needed.
Support customers in identifying the most effective solutions for their motor control applications.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Effectively collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, sales, suppliers, and customers.
Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Build productive working relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
