The Open Rank Professor will provide clinical management of patients with malignancy and elective general surgical conditions. Key responsibilities include the care of patients with acute and palliative surgical oncology needs.
The position is part of a strategic departmental initiative to establish a Palliative and Acute Care Surgery Service within a major freestanding cancer center — a novel program and among the first of its kind nationally. The open rank professor will provide acute care, general surgery, and infusion services.
A collaborative clinical research program in health services and outcomes research in General, Acute, and Palliative Surgical Oncology is available within the Department. The Open Rank Professor will maintain familiarity with current literature pertaining to both oncology patients and those with general surgical conditions requiring consultation and intervention, and will participate in educational programs as determined by the Chair of the Department of Surgical Oncology.
