Assistant Project Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for supporting the management and delivery of roadway maintenance and asset management projects. The role involves project planning, scheduling, budgeting, contract performance tracking, crew supervision, roadway maintenance analysis, client coordination, reporting, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. The position serves as a bridge between office management and field operations, helping to achieve project objectives while supporting team development and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Manage roadway maintenance, repair, and emergency operations.
Support project office and field operations management.
Supervise field inspections and QA/QC assessments.
Assist with project budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting.
Track and report contract performance against project objectives.
Develop short-term and long-term maintenance and repair plans.
Analyze field operations to improve efficiency and safety.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for management and clients.
Review and approve project documentation, plans, payments, and change orders.
Provide technical support related to engineering and maintenance activities.
Conduct data analysis and prepare reports and permit applications.
Assist with GIS updates and business case evaluations.
Train and mentor maintenance personnel.
Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
Coordinate communication between field teams, office staff, and clients.
Monitor project costs, risks, and progress while recommending corrective actions.
Serve as acting project lead when required.
Requirements
Requirements
1–3 years of project management, maintenance, construction, or leadership experience.
Experience with maintenance contracts.
Leadership experience managing teams.
Engineering, construction, or roadway maintenance experience.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage field operations and emergency situations.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, plans, and specifications.
Ability to travel as required.
High School Diploma required.
Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
Experience with GIS, CAD, Power BI, Tableau, or similar software preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Military or veteran leadership experience preferred.
