Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables, to organize and analyze operational data; required
- Working knowledge of SQL or another query language to extract, compare, and reconcile data across multiple systems; preferred
- Familiarity with data visualization or business intelligence tools to present findings clearly; preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail, critical to identifying and resolving data discrepancies; required
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to document and communicate data structures and findings to technical and non-technical audiences; required
- Exposure to IT asset management or configuration management database (CMDB) tools; preferred
- General understanding of cloud computing or network infrastructure concepts; preferred but not required
- Familiarity with prompt engineering to use AI tools efficiently for completing tasks and troubleshooting data quality issues; required
Education
- Currently pursuing a degree in a STEM field, such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline
- Graduation date between December 2027 - June 2029
- Availability to work the internship dates: June 7 - August 13, 2027
Responsibilities
Support complete data integrity across Cloud & Network Infrastructure by documenting data structures, mapping data feeds, and reconciling sources.
- Document and publish data structures (schemas, field definitions, and relationships) for infrastructure and asset data, communicating them clearly across teams
- Learn and map how data feeds operate between systems such as DataMart, NetBox, ServiceNow's CMDB, and LogicMonitor, including how data is captured, transformed, and synchronized
- Perform data reconciliation across these systems to compare values for the same assets, highlight discrepancies, and resolve them to prevent drift between data sources
- Collect, clean, and analyze infrastructure and asset data, prioritizing and fixing the most significant data quality issues to support the team's goal of complete data integrity
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track key metrics such as system performance, vulnerabilities, connectivity, and cost
- Partner with team members to gather reporting requirements and translate raw data into clear, actionable insights
- Present findings and recommendations to team members and stakeholders in a clear, concise manner
- Create or enhance standards and procedures documentation to support consistent, repeatable data processes across the team
- Support ad hoc data requests and special projects as assigned by the team
About the Team:
Moody's is hiring multiple Data Analyst Interns to support the Cloud & Network Infrastructure team within the Technology Services Group, part of Moody's Shared Services. Depending on business need and candidate fit, interns will be aligned to one of several teams, including Process Engineering, Infrastructure Operations Management, Vulnerability Management, Technology Business Management, Connectivity Engineering, or Cloud Engineering. This role has a strong data engineering focus: interns will work across tools such as DataMart (an in-house compute and storage asset management tool), NetBox (a network asset management tool), ServiceNow's CMDB, and LogicMonitor (which monitors assets across the infrastructure environment) to help the team achieve complete data integrity across every area of infrastructure.
Moody's 10-week summer internship program is a premier opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience, guided by Moody's commitment to integrity, excellence, and insight. The program takes place each summer from June - August. Internships are full-time, offering a comprehensive view of Moody's business and culture, and a chance to build professional and technical skills. Programmatic elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series and volunteering events. Interns complete project work determined by their team that have real impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody's professionals, gaining insights into diverse career paths and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the company. Networking events and workshops further enrich the experience, providing a platform for professional development and collaboration. As a Moody's intern, you will gain real-world experience, turn inputs into actions, and be integral part of the team.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring hourly rate for this position is $35, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location.
