J.P. Cooney for Congress is seeking a Finance Director to lead a fast-moving, high-profile campaign in Northern and Central Virginia. J.P. is a former federal prosecutor who spent nearly two decades holding powerful interests accountable and helping lead major public corruption cases, including the prosecution of those involved in January 6th and investigations into Donald Trump. He’s running for Congress to restore integrity, defend democracy, and ensure government works for people—not the powerful. We are looking for a driven, organized, and strategic fundraiser who can build and execute an aggressive finance plan from day one. 

Position Overview
The Finance Director will oversee all aspects of the campaign’s fundraising operation, including call time, donor research, events, digital coordination, and compliance tracking. This is a senior role on a growing team and will work closely with the candidate and senior staff. 

Key Responsibilities
Manage and execute daily call time for the candidate
Build and maintain donor pipelines and prospecting lists
Plan and staff fundraising events across Northern Virginia and statewide
Develop and implement finance plans and projections
Oversee donor tracking systems (Numero or similar CRM)
Coordinate with digital team on online fundraising strategy
Manage finance staff and consultants as the campaign grows
Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with all finance regulations 

Requirements

Qualifications

Previous campaign finance experience preferred (federal experience strongly preferred)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable working directly with a candidate and senior stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ownership
