Labor and Employment Law Attorney
Johnson Pope Bokor Ruppel & Burns, LLP is seeking an experienced attorney with 3-5 years of experience to join our Labor and Employment Practice. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to work closely with experienced partners on complex employment matters while developing significant responsibility in both employment counseling and litigation.
The ideal candidate will have experience advising employers on workplace compliance issues and handling employment-related disputes. This role provides exposure to a broad range of employment matters, including litigation, workplace investigations, and day-to-day counseling for employers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and counsel employers on federal, state, and local employment laws and workplace compliance matters.
- Represent employers in employment-related litigation in state and federal courts.
- Manage litigation tasks including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and other litigation documents.
- Take and defend depositions, participate in hearings, and assist with trial preparation.
- Prepare position statements and respond to administrative charges before local, state, and federal agencies such as the EEOC.
- Conduct workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment, and other employee complaints.
- Draft and review employee handbooks, workplace policies, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and separation agreements.
- Assist clients with wage and hour compliance and wage and hour litigation.
- Provide practical day-to-day guidance to employers regarding employee relations and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate closely with partners and communicate directly with clients on active matters.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law.
- Experience handling employment litigation and employment counseling for employers.
- Working knowledge of key state and federal employment laws.
- Experience responding to administrative charges (EEOC or similar agencies) preferred.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills.
- Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar.
