Medical Director of Correctional Health (DOC)
INTRODUCTION
Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Medical Director of Correctional Health is responsible for the culture, clinical performance, and clinical staffing of the Detention Facilities. The Medical Director is the responsible health authority and physician of the Central Detention Facility (CDF) and Central Treatment Facility (CTF) health facilities, and shall provide the Department of Corrections, CDF, and CTF comprehensive medical care as delineated by UHC.
Requirements
MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversees clinical judgments of the clinical staff and quality, access, and timeliness of care for inmates at CDF and CTF.Serves as the senior clinical liaison for the Department of Corrections.
- Assists the Health Services Administrator (HAS) with the coordination, at least monthly, of the site’s Leadership meetings to include the MD, HSA, DON, Director of Mental Health, and management team. These meetings should be designed to promote quality of care, operational efficiency, problem-solving, etc.
- Assists the Intake Director, at least monthly, with the site’s Intake Staff meetings.
- Conducts, at least monthly, the site’s Provider meetings.
- Assists with identification of supply and equipment needs.
- Coordinates provider schedule to include approval of scheduled absences. Verifies, signs, and submits leave requests for all providers for processing in accordance with the provider leave policy.
- Defines, serves as clinical champion, for, implements, in conjunction with the HSA, site-specific QI initiatives.
