Mid-Senior Level Patent Attorney
McLane Middleton, Professional Association, a leading New England-based law firm, is seeking an experienced Patent Attorney to join our growing IP practice.
The ideal candidate will be a licensed Patent Attorney with 5+ years of experience, including work with domestic and international patents. Experience in other areas such as trademarks, software development and licensing agreements, trade secrets, domain name disputes, copyrights, and confidentiality agreements would be helpful. A portable book of business or existing volume of practice is strongly preferred, though not required for consideration.
A broad range of technical backgrounds including electrical, computer, and mechanical are preferred. Candidates without a technical degree will also be considered, particularly those with an interest in assisting the Firm's business/corporate practice.
The successful candidate will have prior experience in a private law firm setting and will demonstrate the ability to manage billable hour requirements and maintain accurate timekeeping records. We are looking for a self-starter who is motivated to take an active role in the department, with a genuine interest in networking, marketing, and client development. Professionals eager to contribute to a collaborative IP practice are encouraged to apply.
A hybrid work schedule combining in-office and remote work is available. Applicants must possess excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school, along with strong organizational skills, analytical abilities, excellent client service skills, and outstanding communication and writing skills. Attention to detail and ability to monitor and meet filing deadlines is critical.

McLane Middleton provides the following salary range for this position, $150,000 - $250,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to individual performance, geographic location, experience, education, and other qualifications consistent with applicable law. This role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation. Because incentive amounts cannot be calculated in advance, the base salary range listed above represents McLane Middleton’s good faith estimate of the annual base salary range reasonably expected for this position.
