Description
Principal Investments Team Analyst/Associate | New York CityResponsibilities
- Evaluate potential investment opportunities across a variety of industries and business models
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, including operating models, valuation analyses, merger models, LBOs, and return sensitivity analyses
- Conduct company, industry, market, and competitor research to support investment recommendations
- Perform financial, commercial, and operational due diligence on prospective investments
- Assist in the preparation of investment memoranda, committee presentations, and other materials for senior leadership
- Support transaction execution from initial evaluation through closing
- Analyze capital structures, financing alternatives, and transaction risks
- Coordinate diligence processes with management teams, advisors, lenders, consultants, and legal counsel
- Monitor existing investments and assist with portfolio management initiatives
- Track market trends and emerging investment opportunities across sectors
- Support strategic projects and special situations as needed
- Work directly with senior investment professionals on live transactions and investment decisions
Qualifications
- 1-4 years of experience in Investment Banking, Leveraged Finance, Capital Markets, M&A Advisory, Corporate Development, Private Equity, or a related financial role
- Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities
- Experience supporting M&A, financing, restructuring, or investment transactions
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a bulge bracket or middle-market investment bank
- Exposure to M&A, leveraged finance, ECM, DCM, sponsor coverage, or principal investing transactions
- Demonstrated interest in investing and long-term value creation
- Ability to work across multiple industries rather than a single sector focus
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take ownership and operate in a lean team environment
- Experience with programming, data analytics, or quantitative analysis is a plus
