Description
WHO WE ARE
Mitkevicius Law is not a volume shop. We are not a plea-mill. We are not a firm where you show up, push paper, and wait for your name to appear on a door someday.
We are a lean, deeply intentional criminal defense firm built on a single conviction: that every person accused of a crime—regardless of charge, background, or what the State thinks they deserve—is entitled to a fighter who shows up completely.
We operate across the entire First Judicial Circuit—Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties—and we are known in every courtroom we enter. Our cases run the full spectrum: DUI to homicide, misdemeanor to felony, first offense to federal consequence. Our clients come to us in the worst moments of their lives. We don't take that lightly.
We run on EOS/Traction. We use AI and technology deliberately. We hold each other accountable to a high standard, and we have built the systems to back that up. This is a small team that punches well above its weight—and we intend to keep it that way.
If that reads like a job description, stop here. If it reads like a mission, keep going.
THE ROLE
You will carry a caseload of criminal defense matters across the First Circuit. You will strategize, investigate, negotiate, litigate, and—when it's what the client needs—go to trial.
You will work within a structured operational framework. Case managers direct workflow and documentation. You own legal strategy. That distinction matters here, and you will need to respect it.
You will document everything. Every communication. Every decision. Every next step. If it isn't in the file, it didn't happen—and we mean that.
You will be expected to grow. To contribute ideas. To help build something larger than its current form. To take ownership not just of your cases, but of your role on a team that depends on you showing up every day at full capacity.
WHO YOU ARE
You don't need a specific number of years behind you. You need the right things inside you.
You chose this. Criminal defense isn't what was available—it's what called to you. You understand that defending the accused isn't a moral compromise; it is the moral act. You can articulate that under pressure, and you live it in every file you open.
You are sharp. Strategically sharp. The kind of lawyer who reads a set of facts and immediately sees the angles, the weaknesses, the narrative. You think three moves ahead. And you are humble enough to know what you don't know yet.
You are a teammate. You don't resent structure—you trust it. When your case manager flags something, you handle it. When documentation is required, you don't wait to be asked twice. You understand that a well-run firm is what allows great legal work to happen, and you want to be part of what makes it run.
You are hungry. Not just for wins—for growth. You want to become a better lawyer every year. You find energy in the work, not just in the outcomes. You are competitive in the right direction: not against your colleagues, but against every force that would see your client's rights compromised.
You read a room. You know when to be the most commanding presence in it, and when to listen. Your clients feel the difference—that combination of authority and genuine care that makes people trust you with the worst thing that's ever happened to them. You earn that trust every time.
You own your outcomes. When something goes wrong, you say so and fix it. When you don't know something, you say so and find out. Accountability here isn't punitive—it's how we respect each other and our clients.
WHAT WE OFFER
This is not the right role if you want a predictable desk, a comfortable caseload, and a graceful climb to partnership in fifteen years.
This is the right role if you want:
- Mentorship and real litigation experience from a managing attorney who built this firm on the belief that clients deserve their day in court
- A structured, EOS-driven environment where your time is protected by systems that actually work—no chaos, no dysfunction, no guessing what your job is
- A culture that rewards intelligence and accountability—and has no patience for mediocrity, ego, or coasting
- A clear path and a firm with a vision—we know where we're going, and we want people who want to help get us there
- Work that matters, in a legal community where your reputation will follow you for your entire career
The Gulf Coast is a specific place. Its courtrooms are specific. Its judges, its juries, its rhythms—all specific. If you're from here, you know that. If you're willing to relocate, understand that you'd be planting roots in a community and a firm that are worth it.
Compensation is competitive and structured around contribution and growth. We use a performance-driven, incentive-laden compensation system that provides a strong mix of base salary, readily achievable milestones, and profit-sharing incentives that aligns the staff and firm’s interest in delivering excellent, effective, and efficient criminal defense services.
