As a Water Design Lead Project Manager, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects from concept through construction. This role is aligned with either our Stormwater Design Team or our Water / Wastewater Design Team, depending on your technical background and experience.
You will serve as a technical and project delivery leader within your specialty, while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team that supports roadway, structural, geotechnical, and utility components as needed.

Salary Range: $120,000 $160,000, dependent on experience
Compensation for candidates with significant experience beyond the minimum requirements may be considered above this range.
Responsibilities
Project Management & Client Leadership
Serve as Project Manager for municipal infrastructure projects within:
Stormwater and drainage, or Water and wastewater conveyance and treatment systems
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and staffing to meet contractual and client expectations
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and stakeholders
Support business development efforts, including proposals, interviews, and ongoing client engagement
Identify project risks early and proactively develop mitigation strategies
Technical Oversight & Engineering Excellence
Provide senior-level technical oversight within your assigned design team. Responsibilities may include:
Stormwater Design Team Focus
Hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) modeling and drainage studies
Stormwater management systems and municipal drainage infrastructure
Floodplain analysis and FEMA coordination
Water / Wastewater Design Team Focus
Water and wastewater conveyance systems, including pipelines, pump stations, and lift stations
System planning, condition assessments, and capacity evaluations
Across Both Practice Areas
Review and approve plans, specifications, engineering reports, and technical memoranda
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Prepare and review probable construction cost estimates
This role emphasizes technical leadership, quality control, and coordination, rather than performing detailed design across every discipline.
Coordination & Construction Support
Coordinate closely with roadway, structural, geotechnical, and utility disciplines
Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, and field coordination
Assist with resolving construction-related issues as needed
Mentorship & Team Development
Mentor and supervise engineers and designers within your project teams
Perform technical reviews and uphold quality control standards
Foster professional development and knowledge sharing within your design team
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in stormwater, water & wastewater, or water resources engineering
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline
Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
Strong technical foundation aligned with your design team focus:
Hydrology, hydraulics, and drainage or
Municipal water and wastewater infrastructure
Proficiency in OpenRoads, Civil 3D, and/or AutoCAD (OpenRoads preferred; training available)
Experience with HECHMS, HECRAS, SWMM, StormCAD, or similar tools (preferred, not required)
FEMA floodplain mapping and agency coordination experience (preferred)
UDOT or Mountain West municipal project experience (a plus)
Proven ability to lead teams, communicate with clients, and manage projects effectively
• This job operates between an office environment and some project site visits. Routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones and copy machines. May require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.
• While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job may occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
